FAQs
Is your pottery food safe?
Yes! We only use clay bodies and glazes that are certified non-toxic and food safe.
Is your pottery safe to use in the dishwasher or microwave?
Yes! Each piece of functional pottery is created from stoneware clay and fired in an electric kiln to over 2000 degrees Fahrenheit to ensure maximum durability. All of our products are safe to use in your dishwasher and microwave. The only exception is if your piece was created with a metalic luster glaze, in which case, it should not go in the microwave and is best to hand wash it. Any item with a metallic finish will be noted as NOT DISHWASHER/MICROWAVE SAFE in the product description.
Can I use my pottery to bake in the oven?
Yes, you can bake in your functional ceramic wares. Infact, we chose to create our pieces from stoneware clay bodies because they are most resiliant to heat. Each piece of functional pottery is fired in our electric kiln to over 2000 degrees Fahrenheit making it non-porous and safe to withstand high temperatures.
It is important to avoid rapid temperature changes which could cause thermal shock and potentially crack or chip your pottery.
- Make sure your pottery is at room temperature before putting into the oven. Never put a piece from the refrigerator/freezer straight into a hot oven.
What are the benefits of using stoneware pottery?
- it heats evenly + retains heat well
- it offers a toxin-free cooking option (so it’s free of lead and chemical coatings).
-
avoids retaining odors from foods like garlic or fish
